8/27/2017 Booster Meeting Notes/Minutes

Date/Time: Sunday, August 27, 2017 @ 1pm – Palio’s Pizza

NEXT BOOSTER MEETING: Sunday, September 17, 2017 @ 2pm – Hibachio (Rising Sun)

In Attendance Today: Joe, Misti, David, Brandon, Kerry (absent: Jodi)

  1. Welcome to first meeting of 2017-18 season. Please provide contact info/updates – take Booster info sheet if needed

  2. Please Download/join the Midlothian Wrestling REMIND app for all Coach Reed’s info, updates, reminders, dates, etc. On reverse side of Contact Sheet are ways on how to connect to REMIND - bring copies of this to Coach Reed parent meeting, should be sometime near first of Oct.

  3. Homecoming – To Float or not to float, that is the question. Trucks, Trailers, Banners, Decorations, etc…Parade is 9/6/17 beginning at 4:15pm at MHS by fieldhouse.

  • Final decision was YES to ensure as many wrestlers can attend parade.

  • 1 truck (K.Wallace will drive), all students walk the route and pass out fliers about Wrestling at MHS, Middle Schools & Food Drive.

  • Students will carry Wrestling Banner we have in front of truck and if any posters made by then those can be carried as well.

  • Todd H. volunteered to get candy, K.Wallace will make fliers.

  • Students wear Wresting T-Shirts from last year.

4. Sponsors Needed – see revised 2017-18 Sponsor Letter

  • Need to take a Team Photo so we can give to Sponsor(s) in return. Discussed Sponsorship Levels “Bronze, Silver, Gold” and what will be included in each level. K. Wallace will add these levels and “SQUARE pmt accepted” to the current Sponsorship letter and redistributed to Booster

  • We need to still vote on prices for these Levels and discuss with Coach Reed more about what the kids need. “Priority Items Needed” This way the Sponsor(s) can see what they are getting the kids with their donations. (IE: headgear, warmup gear, hoodies, etc.)

  • B.Wallace will send email to Nearfall Clothing to see what designs they can come up with and pricing on: Warmups, Bag, Fight Shorts, Singlets

  • New Kroger will be good possible Sponsor. Also need to speak to Wal-Mart, Cutting Edge and other area businesses asap!

  • Fundraising Ideas

  1. UIL rules state that we can only do 2 annual fundraisers.

  2. Cooler Raffle again?

  • No, will not do cooler again, seems everyone has one or does not want.

  • Will look into having raffle for numerous items such as concert tickets, B&B stay, Movies, etc. This will offer more chances to “WIN”

  • Possible that local company willing to donate for our Raffle?

  • Snack Bar/Concessions at MHS? Yes, Todd H. got approval for Booster to use.

Booster Club Dues/Membership Fees

  1. What’s included w Membership?

  3. What does this money go towards?

  • Discussed Membership Levels “Bronze, Silver, Gold” and what will be included in each level. Voted on prices for each Level > 5:0 ALL IN FAVOR

  • Basic Membership: $20

  • Bronze: $40 - 1 shirt

  • Silver: $80 – 1 shirt, Team Picture, 1 Bleacher Cushion

  • Gold: $120 – 2 shirts, Team Picture, 2 Bleacher Cushions, “Preferred Seating” at home tournaments

  • Membership funds help with costs of Food, Snacks, water, Banquet Facility Rental & decorations as well as awards at banquet

  • Joe to reach out to Walnut Grove & FSMS about combining Boosters w High School Boosters. Does MHHS have booster?

Mana House Food Drive

  • September 11 – October 20 “Wrestling for Hunger”

  • Will open to all Midlothian Schools to run food drive. Need boxes to be put at each.

  • Can have MHS post on website as well as on Marquee infront of schools

  • Will need to have a final pict taken with team and Coach to have posted in local newspaper

T-Shirt Designs “Train Insane or Remain the Same”

  • Coach Reed will have to decide on if we are keeping or changing Motto

  • We need to design a “Dual” shirt to sell when we have tournament w MHHS. Can sell at tournament to all. Joe will get w MHHS Coach

  • Need to update or design new order form for booster. Include: shirts, yard signs, membership packages, etc. Also see about QR code?

Additional Items Discussed not on Agenda:

  • FaceBook page for Midlothian Wrestling Booster Club “Contact Us” button needs to be revised. Currently when clicked on it redirects the person to the Booster WEBSITE (https://midlothianpanthers.wixsite.com/booster). We felt it needed to be revised to open an email to send to Booster. ** this was updated by K.Wallace during this conversation. It was revised to a “EMAIL US” button and opens email to: midlothianpantherswrestling@gmail.com

  • All Booster officers have access to this email. Password was given aloud

  • UPCOMING ELECTIONS: Will be Joe’s final year and possibly Misti. Voted for length of each term to be 2 years > 5:0 ALL IN FAVOR

  • Agreed that before you can be voted into the Booster as an officer, if a spot is available, then you must attend a minimum of 3 booster meetings.
